　　The two main factors affecting the design of NTC temperature sensors are the time constant and dissipation constant. The time constant typically has a longer duration thermistor when packaged. Of course, this is due to the additional mass around the NTC temperature sensor; thus, prolonging the thermal transfer time. The dissipation constant in the component will also be larger. The extra shell mass can act as a heat sink. Therefore more power is required to cause self-heating. The time constant and dissipation constant will vary with the selected thermistor and case. The heat transfer characteristics of the enclosure, thermistor location, mass and wire type determine these constants.
