The sensor node is the basic unit of the wireless sensor network and the foundation of the wireless sensor network. Based on the hardware constraints of sensor nodes such as low power consumption, low cost, and small size, this paper designs a wireless sensor network hardware node based on the radio frequency chip CC2420 and the single-chip MSP430.
When designing a wireless sensor node, the following characteristics should be considered: miniaturization, the sensor node in the application must be highly integrated to ensure that it will not affect the characteristics of the target system. Due to the limitation of the size, the module must be able to integrate more Multi-component; low power consumption, networks are often deployed in unattended places, nodes are powered by batteries, and batteries cannot be replaced frequently. Therefore, how to save power is the primary problem of the application; operating speed, the network requires high real-time performance of nodes , Requires the processor to have strong real-time processing capabilities; expanding interfaces and multi-functional sensor products are the development trend, but in the early design, it is impossible to include all functions, which requires the system to have strong scalability; Reliability, the sensor network can be distributed in a wide area, therefore, maintenance is very difficult, the software and hardware of the sensor network must have high robustness and fault tolerance; the cost is as low as possible.
The sensor node is composed of modules such as data acquisition, data processing, data transmission and power supply. This solution uses a control module with MSP430 as the core. MSP430 performs well in terms of low power consumption and has stable performance under harsh conditions. With CC2420 as the wireless transceiver module, MSP430 and CC2420 communicate through SPI, MSP430 adopts master mode, and CC2420 adopts slave mode. The sensor module of the node is separated from the main board, and the modular design improves the flexibility of the node in different applications. Since this node is battery-powered, the sensor requires small size, low power consumption, and simple peripheral circuits. It is best to use a digital sensor that does not require complex signal conditioning circuits.
