How to connect the PIR sensor to Arduino

source:Industry News release time:2022-10-10 Hits:     Popular:Infrared sensing module

      8308-A PIR lens

In this project, we will understand the PIR sensor and how to use the Arduino PIR sensor tutorial as a sport sensor. Through this project, you can understand the working principle of the PIR sensor and how to connect the PIR sensor to Arduino.

We use Arduino, PIR sensor and GSM to produce a project module using Arduino as a GSM -based home security system. If you understand the working principle of the PIR sensor, you can carry out many such interesting projects, even more complicated projects.

      Overview

PIR sensor or passive infrared sensor is an electronic device that can measure the infrared (IR) light emitted by an observed area. The term "passive" in the PIR sensor means that the sensor does not actually emit any infrared light, but passively detects the infrared light emitted by the surrounding objects.

The surface temperature of each object is greater than the absolute zero, that is, -273 0 C is heated in the form of infrared radiation. Due to the infrared wavelength, humans cannot see this radiation.

But PIR sensors detected these radiation and converted them into appropriate electrical signals.

The typical PIR sensor is shown in the figure below. To connect external devices, it has only three pins, namely VCC, digital output (data) and GND.

At the top of the sensor board, there is a special type of lens called FRESNAL Lens, which covers the actual thermal release sensor. The work of Fresnal Lens is to focus all infrared radiation on the thermal release sensor.

If you look at the back of the PIR sensor board, the entire circuit is there. The brain of the PIR sensor module is the BISS0001 PIR motion detector IC. Near IC, we have two potentiometers, one for regulating sensitivity, and the other for regulating delay time.

Using sensitivity adjustment can control the range of the field. View and in our sensors, it is as high as 7 meters. Using delay time adjustment, you can control the duration of the digital output when detecting the mobile object.

The working principle of PIR sensor?

PIR sensors are more complicated than most other sensors. PIR motion sensors may look simple when implementing, because all you need to do is to check the High signal on the digital output pins of the sensor during exercise.

However, there are many things in the interior that the input and output of the sensor depend on several variables.

The actual PIR sensor, that is, the sensor covered with the lens, including two slots, are made of IR sensitive materials. In front of the sensor without moving normal, the two slots in the sensor detect the same amount of infrared radiation.

When there is movement in front of the sensor, just like humans or cats, their radiation is first explained by one of them, and the differential output between the two grooves becomes positive.
