How much resistance and parameters should be selected for the NTC thermistor used in lithium batteries

source:Industry News release time:2022-08-19 Hits:     Popular:Infrared sensing module

Commonly used lithium batteries are mainly composed of upper and lower covers of plastic shells, lithium batteries, protection circuit boards (PCBs) and resettable fuses (NTCs). Lithium batteries typically use a constant current-constant voltage scheme, which still requires monitoring of temperature to allow fast charging to start, and a mechanism to ensure that charging stops when the temperature exceeds a safety threshold, which is where an NTC thermistor is needed.

Our company specializes in the production of NTC thermistors. Let's take a look at the NTC thermistors used in lithium batteries.

NTC thermistor, also known as negative temperature coefficient thermistor, is a sensor resistor. It is mainly made of metal oxides such as manganese, cobalt, nickel and copper, and is made by ceramic technology. These metal oxide materials all have semiconducting properties because they are completely similar to semiconductor materials such as germanium and silicon in electrical conductivity.

NTC thermistors consume very little power, have excellent accuracy over a wide temperature range, and respond quickly to temperature changes. This adapts to the needs of lithium batteries.

So, what are the resistance values and parameters of the NTC thermistor used in lithium batteries?

Our company provides a series of NTC thermistors suitable for lithium battery power supply, including MF52D and MF52B thermistors, especially the MF52B enameled wire thermistor, which is widely used by lithium battery manufacturers because of its smaller size. The resistance range covered is from 10 to 200kOhm, of which the most cost-effective are 10K and 100K parameters. These high-accuracy NTC temperature sensors provide better than ±1°C accuracy over the -30 to 105°C temperature range, enabling precise temperature monitoring of batteries. When developing these new high-tech NTC thermistors, our company made full use of the high-precision effect of ceramic NTC chips and years of industry experience. NTC chip technology with moving electrodes ensures high temperature stability, low resistance drift (less than 1%) during soldering, and long-term operational stability.

MF52B type NTC thermistor characteristics: high precision; long-term stability; low resistance drift; accurate temperature measurement with various characteristics; NTC thermistor resistance range for lithium batteries is 10K or 100K; B value 3435k, 3950k .
