Refers to the time it takes for a thermistor to change 63% of the difference between its initial and final temperature.

Refers to the time it takes for a thermistor to change 63% of the difference between its initial and final temperature.

The thermal time constant (thermal response time) of a temperature sensor is mainly affected by the following factors:

      1. Design, e.g. sensor element, material used to assemble the sensor element in the sensor housing, connection technology, housing.

      2. Installation configuration, such as immersion, surface mount.

      3. Use environment, such as air flow, inert air, fluid.

NTC Thermistor Rt - Zero Power Resistance Value

Resistance value measured at a fixed temperature by using sufficiently low power dissipation.

NTC thermistor R25 - rated zero power resistance value

NTC thermistor resistance value measured at 25°C by using sufficiently low power dissipation.

      Dissipation coefficient (δ)

At a specified ambient temperature, the NTC thermistor dissipation factor is the ratio of the change in power dissipated in the resistor to the corresponding temperature change in the resistor body.

δ: NTC thermistor dissipation factor, (mW/K).

△ P : Power dissipated by NTC thermistor (mW).

△ T : When the NTC thermistor consumes power △ P, the corresponding temperature change (K) of the resistor body.

The resistance change of an NTC thermistor can be generated externally by changes in ambient temperature or internally by the current flowing through the device. All practical applications are based on this behavior.
