      NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistor is a thermally sensitive semiconductor resistor whose resistance value decreases with the increase of temperature. The resistance temperature coefficient is in the range of -2%/k~-6%/k, which is about the value of metal 10 times the temperature coefficient of resistance. The change of the resistance value of the NTC thermistor can be caused by the change of the external ambient temperature, or it can be caused by the current flowing and self-heating. The rated room temperature resistance depends on the resistivity, size and geometry of the base material, as well as the contact area of the electrodes. Thick and narrow thermistors have relatively high resistance, while thin and wide shapes have lower resistance. Physical size is also very flexible, they can be as small as .010 inches or very small diameters. There is almost no limit to the maximum size, but generally less than half an inch applies.
